This policy explains what personal information I collect through jonsully1.dev, why, and what you can ask me to do with it. I've kept it short and in plain English.
Who I am
jonsully1.dev is run by John O'Sullivan, an independent cloud, automation and AI consultant based in the UK ("I", "me"). I'm the data controller for the information described here. You can contact me about anything in this policy at jon@jonsully1.dev.
What I collect and why
When you send a message
The contact form asks for your name, email address, an optional phone or WhatsApp number, and your message. I also record which page you sent it from (for example, a particular article). I use this only to reply to you and follow up on your enquiry. My lawful basis is my legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and taking steps at your request before we might agree to work together.
When you book a call
Booking a call asks for your name, email address and, optionally, your company and a short message, along with the time you choose. This creates an event in my Google Calendar with you as a guest, and Google sends you a calendar invitation with a Google Meet link. I use this to hold the call and prepare for it. The lawful basis is the same as above.
Security
Like any website, the servers that run this site may briefly process technical information such as your IP address, for example in logs and to stop spam and abuse. This is used only for security.
What I don't do
- I don't use advertising or analytics trackers, and I don't track you across sites.
- I don't sell or share your information for marketing.
- I won't add you to a mailing list unless you ask me to.
Cookies
Visitors to this site aren't given any tracking or advertising cookies. The only cookies the site uses are strictly necessary ones for my own sign-in to the site's admin area.
Who else handles your information
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) hosts this site and its data in its London (UK) region, and delivers contact-form emails to me.
- Google provides the calendar and Google Meet video calls for booked calls. The invitation and the call itself are covered by Google's privacy policy. Google may process data outside the UK under its own safeguards.
Google Calendar access
To offer bookings, this site connects to my own Google Calendar. It reads only when I'm busy (not what my other appointments are), and creates and updates events for calls booked through the site. It never accesses visitors' Google accounts. jonsully1.dev's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries: as long as needed to reply and follow up, and no longer than 24 months unless we go on to work together.
- Booking records: deleted automatically 12 months after the call.
- Server logs: kept for a short period for security only.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask me for a copy of your information, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to how I use it, or to move it elsewhere. Email jon@jonsully1.dev and I'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the date at the top.
